Any LEGs member may enter however to be eligible to receive placings/awards/points each horse/rider combination must have competed in at least 3 members days in 2015. If horse/rider combination has NOT competed in 3 or more events in 2015 you may still enter as a HC entry which means you will NOT be entitled to receive placings/awards/points.

We wish to advise that we are not running a Hack Day on 12th September as was advertised on website Events page.

Horsemanship Clinic

Early registration is advisable as numbers are limited.

This course is for those who are looking to advance past the introduction horsemanship stages.

The ground skills or on-line segment prepares you for the use and

advancement to longer lines and where appropriate gives an introduction to

work in the round pen.

The ridden section aims to advance riders onwards from the introduction

stage and help riders learn practical skills that they can apply to everyday

situations. This segment of the course aims to help riders learn how to

improve your horse’s impulsion from the horse that won’t go to the horse

that has too much go.

Depending on the level of course participants this course would have

ground skills in the morning and riding in the afternoon.

Riding participants cost $400 for 2 days - $80 deposit required at time of registration to secure your position.

Spectators are welcome - cost $50 per person per day.

Our first presenter, Petra Doerfling, is a qualified medical herbalist and proprietor of Lockyer Equine Therapies. Petra will be discussing sand colic prevention strategies and management, as well as talking about one of the most popular products of the moment, Tumeric, and it’s use in horses for various ailments. Our second present will be Sally-Ann Piggott, from Virbac Animal Health. Sally will be talking about all things worming, and her topics will include:

Why do we worm? Strategic worming The worms we should know about and understand Active ingredients to know Rotation - how & why? What is a FEC and FECRT?

Sally will also be giving a free Rotation Wheel and Weigh Tape for all who attend.

This event will be held in Annie’s Room at the Royal Hotel in Gatton, and is free to current LEGs members. We will be starting around 10am.

Toowoomba Dressage is holding a Dressage Clinic with Jayden Brown on Sat 27 & Sun 28 September in the Indoor Arena at the Toowoomba Showgrounds. Members and non Members are welcome to attend. Fence sitters are also welcome.

It is the same weekend as the Total Equine Queensland Expo being held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds. If people are coming they could bring their horse and have a lesson with Jayden and then attend the Expo. Stabling is available.
